Over the years, various church groups have
come and gone. A very active Youth Club of the sixties thrived for many years
but eventually closed its doors when the premises it occupied at Les Landes -
another former Methodist Church in the parish — was sold. Another major
organisation that finally ceased in the early nineties was the Wesley Guild.
Needs change, and today we have:
On Wednesdays, again once a month, we have
the appropriately named “Wednesday Group”. This very active group of somewhat
younger ladies also have a programme of speakers and visits on all manner of
subjects.
Also on Wednesdays, every week, there is a
short noon time “Prayer Fellowship” which meets in the small Fellowship Hall at
12.00 midday. Once a month this becomes an ecumenical group with friends from
the Anglican and Catholic Churches.
A group of younger wives have started a new
group, meeting at the Manse or other homes and have chosen call themselves
“Chatterbox”! They have formed a good group of singers who have led in worship
as well as concerts.
There are two very active House Groups, who
meet for Bible Study or other Bible based theme studies. They meet generally
fortnightly from the Autumn to the Spring.
An informal Singing Group has also been
formed within our section and meets at neighbouring Ebenezer Methodist church.
Our talented minister’s wife, Pauline, leads us through a variety of lesser
known modern songs to widen the repertoire available for Sunday worship in our
churches.
